Sun-Earth Day 2008: Space Weather Around the World

POLAR GATEWAYS, BARROW ALASKA

The Sun-Earth Day team traveled to Barrow, Alaska to join scientists from all over the world during the "Polar Gateways Arctic Circle Sunrise 2008" conference. One of the main goals was to share information about changes in the Earth's Polar Regions due to global climate change and how it will impact our daily lives and the future of our planet. Other topics included cutting edge information about our Sun's influence on the solar system as well as our future exploration of other planets.

While there, our team presented a live webcast, produced three on-location podcasts, and took many exciting pictures. Experience the first two podcasts now! Part III is on the way. If you haven't done so already, subscribe to our podcast; or just download the mp3 files below.

For more information about the book mentioned by Richard K. Glenn during the 2nd podcast, "Fifty More Years Below Zero", visit the Barrow Arctic Science Consortium website (http://www.arcticscience.org/).

This conference was in support of the third International Polar Year 2007-2009 and the first International Heliophysical Year 2007-2009.
